Easy French Onion Soup Recipe

2 tablespoons unrefined corn germ oil
2 large onions, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon whole wheat flour
4 cups hot tamari broth or vegetable stock
sea salt
Garnish: toasted croutons, grated cheese


  • Heat a large saucepan. 
  • Add the oil and onions and saute until tender and golden brown.
  • Add the flour and cook over low heat for about 2 minutes, stirring constantly. 
  • Add the hot broth and simmer 5 to 10 minutes. 
  • Season to taste with sea salt. 
  • Serve hot with the garnish.
